FX COMPOSER 2.5 RELEASE NOTES (July 2008) Please read the accompanying "Getting Started" guide and Quick Tutorial before using FX Composer 2.5. 1. Make sure to use at least a 'Release 90' driver for full OpenGL and Frame Buffer Object functionality. We recommend the latest public driver available at: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp. 2. FX Composer 2.5 offers several new features: a. Direct3D 10 support via FX files. This includes texture arrays, stream out, and geometry shaders. We highly recommend using the latest public drivers for DirectX 10. b. Visual Models and Styles. Gives users the ability to design materials and effects for COLLADA files exported from DCC applications, without modifying the exported file. These features enable: * The ability to re-export over the original document without losing your data. * The ability to design many different visual styles for the same model c. Particle systems. A simple particle system designed to assist user in prototyping effects for particles. d. Scripting via command line and TCP/IP connection e. MRT. Support for Multiple Render Targets in COLLADA FX Cg effects f. User interface improvements g. Numerous bug fixes 3. FX Composer 2.5 overwrites your IDE settings on install. Therefore, if you want to preserve your settings, you should save them prior to installation and then overwrite the new IDE settings after installation. You can find the IDE settings at: C:\Users\\Local Settings\NVIDIA Corporation\FX Composer 2\idesettings.xml 4. Known Issue: Under some circumstances, the projection matrix of light instances may be calculated incorrectly, when used for shadow mapping effects. The near/far depth ranges may not be optimal. The distance of the light from the scene may trigger the error. One workaround for this issue is to produce a reasonable projection matrix in the shader rather than receiving the matrix from SAS bindings. ___ Please report issues at the NVIDIA Developer Forums (http://developer.nvidia.com/forums).
